Maureen Saville
About Maureen
I have worked within the Deaf community since 1998. My route to interpreting was to work as a CSW in Further and Higher Education for two years, before joining the Royal Association for Deaf People (RAD) as a Trainee Interpreter. During my five years with RAD, I successfully completed the Post Graduate Diploma in BSL/English Interpreting at UCLAN, and in 2002 became a Member of the Register of Sign Language Interpreters.
Since 2005 I have worked as freelance interpreter, with the main focus of my work being the range of domains within Community Interpreting. As well as maintaining my interpreting practice, I support interpreters with their skill development, and undertake work as a Trainer, Assessor, Internal Verifier, External Verifier, and am an ASLI Trained Mentor.
Expertise:I have experience in a range of Domains which include: IT, Social Services, Local Authority, Medical and Deafblind/Usher (Visual Frame, Hands On & Social Haptic Communication). I am based in Essex, and am within easy reach of London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Kent - although I am open to travel outside of these areas, and also have experience of working overseas.
